Antimicrobial susceptibility test. The percentage reduction of Alamar blue (resazurin) to resorufin is a direct indication of mycobacterial viability. A lower percentage reduction of Alamar blue indicates greater mycobacterial susceptibility. The experiment was performed in a 96-well plate in duplicate. The data are expressed as Mean ± SD. The effective dose (LD50) of the compound 4, 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d, 5e, 5f and INH are 0.52, 0.56, 1.02, 0.57, 5.38, 0.95, 5.13, and 0.51 µg/ml respectively at which 50% of the mycobacterial cell death was observed. In case of control (saline), approximately > 90% of mycobacterial cells were viable. When compared to the control there was a significant percentage reduction of Alamar blue in all the groups, whereas when compared to INH there was no significant difference found. The superscript Z denotes statistical significance at p < 0.001. All statistical data were calculated using GraphPad Prism 5
