Abaxial epidermis also referred to as lower layer was gotten by scraping the abaxial epidermis (upper layer) of the leaf of each plant, cleared in 2% v/v Sodium hypochlorite and rinsed severally in distilled water. The cleared epidermal tissues were stained with Safranin O and then dehydrated in vials containing 50%, 70% and 100% ethanol successively. This was mounted on microslide with dilute glycerol and viewed under light microscope at × 400 objective lens
