Sources of dietary flavonoids. These flavonoids possess antidiabetic and antioxidant effects by various mechanisms such as inhibition of serum IL-1β and IL-6/1β, enhancing the β-islets cells, inhibition of gluconeogenesis and glucose release in blood from liver, stimulation of glycogenesis, inhibition of HMG-CoA reductase and SREBP-1, reduction in the level of triglycerides, stimulation of glucose sensitivity by stimulation of phosphorylation IRS and PI3K-PKB/Akt pathways, etc.
